KDI and Korea National Defense University Co-host Seminar on Chunmoo 230 mm Class MRL Rocket

The Korea National Defense University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation and Korea Defense Industry Corp. (KDI) held the “2026 Korea National Defense University Research Project Presentation – Seminar on Weapon Effectiveness Development of the Chunmoo 230 mm Class MRL Rocket: Current Status and Future Development Direction” on May 13 at Harmony Hall, ROKAUS, Yongsan, Seoul.
The seminar was organized to share research findings on the weapon effectiveness of the Chunmoo 230 mm Class MRL Rocket and to discuss ways to enhance its operational effectiveness and future development direction in response to changes in the future battlefield environment.
The seminar was attended by experts from the public, military, industry, academic, and research sectors, including major defense-related organizations such as the Ministry of National Defense, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Combined Forces Command, Republic of Korea Army Headquarters, and the Defense Acquisition Program Administration, as well as the Army Training & Doctrine Command, the Army Artillery School, the Army Air Defense School, Chunmoo operating units, defense research institutes, and academia.
In particular, the seminar was meaningful in that it addressed the weapon effectiveness and operational effectiveness of multiple rocket launcher firepower as a dedicated topic, while bringing together experts from relevant organizations to discuss future development directions in line with changes in the battlefield environment.
Participants exchanged views on the operational effectiveness and development needs of the Chunmoo 230 mm Class MRL Rocket in connection with the Korea National Defense University research project. They also discussed the growing importance of weapon effectiveness data and the future direction of ground firepower operations in response to changes in the future battlefield environment.
The seminar served as an opportunity for experts from relevant organizations to review the weapon effectiveness and operational direction of multiple rocket launcher firepower while discussing the operational effectiveness and future development direction of the Chunmoo 230 mm Class MRL Rocket.
